The Tomb Of Tamerlane

Timur Tamerlane (1336-1405) was a prominent political figure of the second half of the XIV century. He founded a huge Asian Empire and the Timurid dynasty. The state’s capital was the city of Samarkand. The Bishop bore the title of – Emir, which translated from Arabic means “Lord.” The limits of its power stretched from Asia Minor to India and from the Aral sea to the Persian Gulf. Timur died during a trip to China in February 1405.

The dead body of the Bishop was embalmed and transported to Samarkand. The coffin was buried in the mausoleum Gur-Emir, which translated from Persian means “tomb of kings”. Thus, the tomb of Tamerlane in 1405 was built in Samarkand. In accordance with the custom of her curse was imposed, warning about the terrible evils if the sarcophagus with the body of the Emir will be opened.

The opening of the tomb of Tamerlane

After coming to power of the Bolsheviks all the gold, precious stones and platinum have become the property of the state of workers and peasants. It has therefore become common practice to open the family crypts and removed from jewelry. In Russia, it is practiced very widely. In Central Asia until the early 40-ies of similar activities were not conducted.

The desecration of graves by the laws of Islam is considered a terrible crime. Therefore, the Bolsheviks were in no hurry to aggravate the situation. In Central Asia until the late 30-ies there was a struggle with the Basmachi. Therefore, the Communists tried to behave loyally and discreetly. Only in the early 40-ies began to attempt the confiscation of expensive jewelry from the mausoleums.

Of particular interest is the Gur-Emir mausoleum. According to historical documents the campaigns of the great conqueror Timur always brought him great wealth. So there was a version that a large part of the loot buried in the tomb along with the body.

At the end of may 1941, a group of experts from the Leningrad Hermitage, accompanied by the NKVD arrived in Samarkand. The Keeper of the mausoleum at that time was Masood Alaev. Upon learning that the burial want to open, he introduced specialists to a curse placed on the tomb. But all of the staff were Communists and in anything supernatural did not believe. Alaeva declared a saboteur and was suspended from his duties as caretaker.

The tomb was sealed stove. June 19, 1941 she was raised. It was found 3 of the tomb. Grandson Ulugh beg, son of Shah Rukh and formidable ruler. Initially identified the remains of close relatives and the tomb of Tamerlane was opened on 21 June 1941.

The autopsy of the remains of the Emir once went wrong. At first, broke the winch, then burned out of the spotlight, then in the vault was extremely hard to breathe. At some point near the mausoleum there appeared a very old man. He showed an old book in which was written that if Tamerlane’s grave will be opened, it would start a war. But Leningrad specialists treated the warning lightly.

The coffin was opened. The corpse is very bad. There was only one skeleton. It was concluded that during life a person was tall and big head. Found mutilated calf and deformed spinal vertebrae. No one doubt that this body of Timur.

In the crypt they found no treasure, but archaeologists still felt the joy from the work done. However, the next morning it was announced the beginning of the great Patriotic war. Some of the members of the expedition tried to find the old man who predicted the war tragedy, but none of the locals knew him in person. Scientists quickly gathered, took archaeological finds and left Samarkand.

Was there a prophecy?

The expedition included a Photographer Kayumov. He was taken to the front military operator. An warning of a strange old man on the tomb made a strong impression. So he reported to the authorities. Information came to G. K. Zhukov. The great strategist and brilliant tactician invited Kayumova and talk with him. After that, he got in touch with Stalin and described the situation.

The leader takes seriously the story of the military operator. He ordered contact M. M. Gerasimov, who at this time was recreated on the remains of the Timur and his close relatives. He was ordered to finish the job as soon as possible. The order was fulfilled by mid-autumn of 1942. After that, the dice was loaded on a plane and sent to Samarkand. They arrived there December 19, 1942, and December 20 is placed in the tomb. After that there has been a radical turn in the great Patriotic war.

Thus ended the Saga with the opening of the tomb. But was there a prophecy by which began a terrible bloody meat grinder? The Barbarossa plan was developed by the German command in 1940, when the remains of the great conqueror yet no one stuttered. The date of the attack on the Soviet Union was approved on 10 June 1941. This happened 10 days before opening the tomb. Then began the contraction of German troops to the Soviet-German border. Troops the order to attack was given on June 20. That is, nothing could change the inexorable course of history, as in a military operation involved millions of people.

After all these facts are somehow hard to believe in an ominous prophecy. The opening of the vault was only a little historical episode. He could not affect the outbreak of hostilities. Everything was predetermined long before that.

The tomb of Tamerlan did not pose any sinister mystical component. All this came from unscrupulous persons with the aim to inflate on empty space sensation. It was just an ordinary archaeological site. They coincided with the beginning of the war, but this was the limit. To see this regularity and connection with ancient spells can only very naive person taking at face value what he is told. So we will not ascribe to the great conqueror tens of millions, passed away in the period of terrible trials. He grabs his victims, and once completely useless .
